Over the course of my foundation year, which I am due to finish in April, I have completed a wide range of different research, experimentation and design work, developing my skills from project to project. In this collection of work that I am presenting, I have tried to include examples of my work that show my experimentation, drawing skills, interest in fashion, research skills, and competence when working with fabric to model ideas.
I lead an extremely busy life; I commute to London four days a week, and the other three days I spend working at my two jobs, and completing my college work. I like to have a variety of different things to work on, and enjoy balancing different responsibilities and planning my time, although my priority has always been to complete my college work to the best of my ability. I have a love for art and music, I play several instruments to relax in my spare time, although my real passion lies with the dynamic and constantly morphing fashion industry, and creating my own garments for fun.
I was really inspired by the students and the work that I saw on the BA Fashion course when I visited on an open day. This was the third open day that I had visited, but I got an instant gut feeling that this was the university I wanted to attend; I watched the students and what they were working on, and the fantastic facilities that they had access to, and I got a really friendly feeling about the university and felt that I would really love to study there. I am an extremely creative student, I like to be able to express myself, particularly through my design work, in lots of different ways, and looking at the range of creative outcomes that the students were working on, I felt that this course appealed to me in that way, as other courses I have looked at applying for have felt more restrictive.
